75 year old man goes missing in Balaka

Balaka, Police in Balaka are searching for a 75 year old man, George Tukula, who reportedly went missing on 7 June this year.

According to Balaka Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Edith Kachosa, the man left his home in Andiamo during the early hours of Wednesday last week for morning prayers at a nearby church and did not return home.

In an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA), the daughter of the missing man, Innocecia Tukula, said she first discovered that her father was missing when she paid him a visit late afternoon on Wednesday.

I am the one who looked after my father and would go to his house on a daily basis to do household chores just before he leaves early in the morning for prayers and returns home around 7 am, explained Tukula.

Tukula added that upon noticing that her father did not return home after the morning prayers, she went inside the bedroom of his house where she found his phone with a strange typed message without a recipient number expressing how he felt useless, a burden and had to say goodbye to all his loved ones.

George Tukula is a retired Secondary School teacher and hails from Mpango Village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Mkula in Machinga.
