Angola, Argentina business worth USD 200 million

The annual business volume between Angola and Argentina is worth US$200 million, the Argentinean ambassador to Angola, Alejandro Verdier, said on Monday in Caxito City, northern Bengo Province.

The diplomat, who made a working visit to the province of Bengo, said that the main area of Argentine investment in the country is agriculture.

Verdier indicated that Argentina is interested in investing in the Free Zone of Development of Barra do Dande (Bengo).

He revealed that the installation of the Argentine Arcor company (specialized in the elaboration of foodstuffs) in 2022, in the economic zone of Viana, aroused the interest of other companies to invest in Angola.

He highlighted the touristic potentialities of Bengo, especially of Barra do Dande, which has an investment potential that needs more disclosure.

During his stay in the region, the diplomat visited the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Bengo which, in his view, has much potential that Angola needs for the training of young people in agribusiness, an area in which Argentina could cooperate.

“We have a lot to do together, not only in agribusiness, but also in the area of education. In Argentina the public universities are free also for foreigners, we have many Angolans graduating there, but we hope to have many more”, he stressed.

The governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba, stressed that Bengo is an eminently agricultural province that already produces a lot and has to move towards industrialization.

On the other hand, Argentina is an efficient power in technology and innovation that may somehow help the country in this sense, she said.

In addition to visiting the Pedagogical High School, the Argentinean ambassador, Alejandro Verdier, had a meeting with the governor, Maria Antónia Nelumba, and visited the Angolaves company.

The Pedagogical College has 2,200 students enrolled this academic year, while the Angolaves company produces 90,000 eggs daily.
