Blantyre: Beautify Malawi (BEAM) Trust will on July 28, 2018 hold a fundraising awareness luncheon at Zomba State Lodge which is expected to raise K20 million to support sanitation activities in the old capital city of Zomba.
BEAM Trustee, Dingiswayo Jere disclosed this in an interview with Malawi News Agency on Monday that the luncheon would be held under theme: ‘It starts with us.’
One of the core objectives of BEAM Trust is to initiate cleanliness in different areas. Zomba being the old capital city of Malawi, we thought it wise that it should begin with us to ensure that the district, city and municipality is clean and green, he explained.
We are urging the public to take the responsibility of keeping their places clean so that together we live in a healthy environment, Jere added.
According to the Trustee, BEAM Trust is currently receiving overwhelming response from different people in form of cash and kind ahead of the event.
The response from people in the district is so encouraging and we are optimistic that the event is going to be successful, Jere stated.
He said apart from the luncheon, the organizers have lined up a number of activities including a raffle draw where different prizes would be splashed to the winners.
The country’s First lady, Prof. Gertrude Mutharika is expected to grace the occasion.
