Dedza: Dedza Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP) Chidziwitso Sunday School Choir on Saturday donated assorted items worth K200, 000 to patients at Dedza District Hospital.
Speaking in an interview with the Malawi News Agency (Mana) after the donation, Reverend Livingston Sitima of Nkhoma Synod Dedza CCAP church said the church understands problems the hospital is going through hence the donation.
We have given these items because the Bible teaches us of the commandment of God which says we should love and help one another, on the other hand we are teaching our children how to perform charity work,” Sitima said.
Even the Bible says we have to teach our children the word of God and train them how to pray so that when they have grown up they should be able to know how to pray and know the word of God,” he added.
He therefore asked parents to encourage their children to go to church.
Speaking in a separate interview, Director for the choir Anafi Ndalama said it was their wish to come at the hospital and bless others with what God has given them.
It was our wish as a choir to come here to bless patients with material things and the word of God which will help them in their everyday life, Ndalama said.
Speaking on behalf of the hospital staff, Christopher Zagwazatha said the donation has come at the right time as it will help patients more especially those who have just delivered since they need some of the materials such as soap.
On her part one of the beneficiaries, Moreen Stepher, said she was very grateful for the donation and the word of God that was preached to them as it was a message of hope to them.
The donated items included sugar, soap, salt and maize flour.
