Vice President of the Republic of Malawi Dr.Saulos Chilima accompanied by Madame Mary Chilima on Saturday attended tombstone unveiling ceremony of the Late Edith Valera wife to the late uncle of the Vice President at Muriya Village in Traditional Authority Nkanda in Mulanje.
In his short speech at the function, Chilima described the Late Edith Valera as a caring aunt whose life was worth celebrating.
He thanked the organizing committee for the job well done that included the ceremonial mass officiated by the Reverend Father Focus Chikweya.
Father Chikweya in his reading from the book of John asked the catholic faithful not to be troubled with death as it is a normal channel to the kingdom of God.
He then asked them to emulate the life of Edith Valera whom he said besides other duties on earth she loved to serve God.
Born Edith Mambiya, a seventh born daughter to the Late Pastor Mambiya was born on 8th November, 1940. After completing her secondary school education she joined a nursing career and worked up to the position of a matron in various government hospitals until 1990 when she retired from service.
She then died on 14th February, 2014 after battling with heart attack. She is survived by sons, daughters and grand children.
