Councilor worried over pupils learning in open air

Blantyre, Chilomoni Ward Councilor, Phillip Litchowa Kametah has expressed concern over pupils learning outside classrooms this winter season due to shortage of classroom blocks.

In an interview with the Malawi News Agency (MANA) Kametah noted that schools such as Jordan primary school in his area has pupils who are learning in a shade under a tree due to lack of classroom blocks.

According to Kametah, the pupils are learning under trees and some in Mulunguzi CCAP church which is making it difficult for the teachers to do their work properly.

Moreover, Kametah said the church authorities have written them a letter as community leaders to stop using the church as a classroom block because they want to renovate it.

This is very worrisome to us and seeing that winter is coming and the pupils who were finding shelter in the church now have to learn under trees, is not good news, said Kametah.

He appealed to well-wishers to intervene and assist the school with one class room block or more to improve the learning condition of pupils at the school.
