Chiradzulu, At least191, 946 out of 195, 917 people in Chiradzulu are expected to receive their National Identity Cards (NICs) this week.
Speaking in an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana) Sunday, Assistant District Registrar (ADR) for Chiradzulu, Clara Banda, said 98 per cent of the people in the district would receive their national identity documents from respective centres starting this week.
She said: We received 98 per cent of the cards on Saturday and today (Sunday) we have sorted them according to the centres, ready for distribution to respective centres for collection, she said.
According to the Assistant District Registrar, the remaining two per cent of the cards are expected to arrive end January (2018), saying they are still being processed. She assured that whoever registered would get their identity cards.
Banda therefore advised people in the district to collect their Ids in the centres where they registered once the distribution process begins.
Chiradzulu was under phase three of the national registration exercise which government implemented and the district had 83 registration centres.
