Dowa Police tightens security during mothers day holiday

Dowa,: Police in Dowa have tightened up security in all of its busy trading centres and roads passing through it, particularly the Lilongwe -Salima road which will be busy with groups of mothers travelling to the Lake in Salima.

Police roadblocks and check points have been mounted and both uniform and civilian officers have been deployed.

In an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana), Dowa Police Station’s Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Richard Kaponda is advising drivers to always observe speed limits and avoid drinking and driving so that they arrive alive to their destinations.

“As police, we advise families to be on the lookout since there are some thieves who take advantage of these holidays to break into houses and steal items. Hence they should leave someone behind to look after their houses,” he said.

There are three main busy roads passing through Dowa such as M1, Lilongwe – Mzuzu, Lilongwe – Salima and the Lumbadzi -Dzaleka – Dowa Boma- Chezi road.
