Epileptic man dies of alcohol

Lilongwe: A 29 year old man identified as Julius Kamponda who was epileptic died at Kasiya in Lilongwe after drinking alcohol.

In an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA) Tuesday, Lilongwe police spokesperson, Kingsley Dandaula said on Sunday Kasiya police unit received information from Patisi Kamponda 33, that his brother (the deceased) was found dead in a nearby bush.

The deceased was warned by Majiga Health Center to stop drinking after they found out that he had epilepsy but he did not listen, explained Dandaula.

He said on Thursday the deceased went to Nyanga Trading Center to buy breakfast but he never returned till two days later when the reporter received information that he was seen going to a beer hall.

He further said on Sunday the deceased at around 8 hours was found dead and the body was eaten by Dogs.

The scene was visited by Kasiya Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers and medical personnel from Majiga Health Center who established that death was due to drinking beer on an empty stomach and that no foul play was suspected.

The deceased and the brother both hail from Nyanga Village in the Area of Traditional Authority Khongoni, Lilongwe.
