Zomba: Hope for Malawi from the Canadian People, in partnership with Partners in Action for Sustainable Development, this week handed over an Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre at M’dumu Village in Traditional Authority Malemia in Zomba.
The Family of Peter and Elaine Zakreski, founders of Hope for Malawi Organization said on Tuesday they were pleased to open a magnificent building which would assist in feeding school children who would be accessing early childhood education at the centre.
This is a great development for our family as we celebrate 57 years of marriage. We thought it wise to celebrate with people of M’dumu Village by giving them this building, said Zackreski.
In his remarks, Director for Partners in Action, Amosi Ezikiel Chiyenda said the two classroom block which cost over K8.5 million, would be accommodating 100 children.
We are very grateful to the people of Canada and the community for their support. I can assure you that the whole project will be fully complete before the next academic year starts, said Chiyenda.
Group Village Headman Ntogolo could not hide his excitement for the development, assuring Partners in Action and Hope for Malawi that they would take care of the building.
We have a committee which will be accountable for all the activities that will be conducted at the site. Food for kids, which will be provided by Feed the Hungry, will also be taken care of by the committee. Anyone found misusing the resources will be punished accordingly, said Ntogolo.
