Karonga, As a way of reaching the global masses with evangelism, Karonga Diocese of the Catholic Church has launched its own website, Malawi News Agency (MANA) has learnt.
The development will see the diocesan radio-Tuntufye FM being hosted online.
Speaking during the launch of the website, leader for the diocese Bishop Martin Mtumbuka, said apart from evangelization, the new technology will be the face of the diocese to its development partners.
The website will help us to present all the activities done in the diocese to our donors in Washington, London and all other places. This development will help us to be more accountable,” said Right Reverend Mtumbuka.
The Karonga Diocese Bishop, who on the day, also handed over computer and science laboratories to St. Mary Girls’ National Secondary School in the district, revealed plans to construct a private secondary school of international standard to accommodate students from all over the world.
As a diocese, we are planning to have an international private school five years from now with the aim to support the world with the best education,” said Mtumbuka.
Established in 2010, the Diocese of Karonga has supported government with several social development projects.
In his remarks, web designer Revelation Nyirongo, said the website had been customized for users to spend minimum internet bundles.
Nyirongo, a lecturer at Soche Technical College in Blantyre, added that he integrated the website with the Google map and that it will show all the information about Caritas offices, the priests and parishes for the diocese.
