KU District Hospital and St Andrews Hospital patients get a New Year treat from National Bank

As part of celebrating the New Year, National Bank of Malawi staff in Kasungu on Tuesday took time to cheer patients at Kasungu District Hospital and St Andrews Anglican Hospital in Mtunthama.

Tha banks Kasungu Service Centre Manager Leonard Siula said as people enter the New Year it was wise to go and cheer patients who did not have a chance to experience the same with their families at home.

As a bank we operate in a society and this is why we thought that we should share a little something with the patients at Kasungu District Hospital and also St Andrews Anglican Hospital,

Some of these are our customers and they did not have a chance to celebrate the New Year because they are sick, so it was upon us to cheer them in this New Year, said Siula.

The banks gave the patients assorted items ranging from food to toiletries, and were also given washing buckets.

The items were in excess of K1 million.

Kasungu District Nursing Officer Aubrey Banda, while appreciating the gesture by National Bank, said it is always a good thing to share something with the patients during the festive season.

We are happy with what National Bank has done. Our patients have several problems when they are here in the hospital and when companies and organisations come to help, we very much appreciate, said Banda.

Kasungu hospital during the festive season had about 500 patients admitted.
