Lightning reared its ugly head again as it struck to death a 31 year-old man on Monday afternoon at Dzenza in Lilongwe.
Speaking to Malawi News Agency (Mana) in an interview Wednesday, Kanengo Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Alfred Chimthere identified the deceased as Boyi Mkwapatira, who was a local farmer in the area.
He said Mkwapatira was pronounced dead upon arrival at Area 25 Health Centre.
Chimthere said the deceased met his fate when he was walking towards his home and soaked up in the rains after a beer outing at Nsungwi market.
According to the PRO, postmortem conducted at the Health Centre indicates that death was due to a cardiac arrest.
Mkwapatira hailed from Masonga village in Traditional Authority Chitukula in Lilongwe district.
Chimthere added that last month another man was killed by lightning at Ngwangwa in Traditional Authority Mtema.
Meanwhile the Police are appealing to members of the general public to take the precautionary measures during the rainy season in order to curtail on such accidents.
