Lilongwe: Lilongwe City Zone Seventh Adventist youth have organised a sports day to be held on May 27, 2018 at the Bingu Nation Stadium to provide a platform for the youth to know each other well so that serve God and keep fit together.
Speaking in an interview with the Malawi News Agency, Lilongwe city zone Adventist coordinator, Kondwani Ngwale said they have decided to bring together the Seventh Day Adventist youth society so that they know each other while doing exercises.
“We thought of organizing this sports day so that all the Adventist churches in Lilongwe come and do the exercises together while they get to know each other so that every time they are serving God they must be fit and strong,” Ngwale said.
He further said these activities would measure how strong they are in their bodies as they are living in this world serving God.
“As you may know you need to be mentally free and healthy so that you can serve God well, and doing exercises is just one thing that can make the youth strong and mentally sound,” Ngwale explained.
He said there is need as church youth to be connected with their friends by knowing each other so that they can share ideas on how best to serve God.
“Nowadays a lot of people are using the social media so much to share things and chat which is good but we thought that while we are interacting in those platforms we need to know each other physically not just on whatsApp or Facebook,” Ngwale said.
Commenting on the development, Chilinde Seventh Day Adventist youth, Chimwemwe Mpapila said it is good that the church in Lilongwe decided to organise this sports day where the young people will do the sport but also get to know each other.
“It is good as we are going there not only to do exercises to keep our bodies healthy but our coming together will make us know each other and share ideas on how best we can serve our Lord,” Mpapila said.
There are almost one hundred Seventh Day churches in Lilongwe city zone alone.
Some of the activities that will be happening are volleyball, basketball, football and Netball just to mention a few.
