Malawi: FA Orders Replay of Civo, Master Security Fixture – Refree to Be Punished

Football Association of Malawi (Fam) through its Competitions Committee has ruled that the match between Civo United and Master Security Services be replayed.

The Presidential Cup play off match was abandoned and later called off following a disallowed Master Security goal in a match played few days ago at the Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

Facts presented in the determination released on Friday night and made available to Nyasa Times revealed that the match was ended prematurely as it was only played for 28 minutes.

By the time the referee Roy Williams abandoned the match, Civo was leading 1-0.

The match was stopped for 35 minutes before it was completely called off.

According to the committee, reports presented by Williams and match coordinator Pyson Likagwa, the referee contradicted himself in the report and that he was incompetent enough in officiating the game as he made inconsistent decisions.

The report also lacked substance on what led to the abandonment of the match according to the determination signed by Fam General Secretary Suzgo Nyirenda.

Master Security has also been found guilty of man handling the referee which is contrary as well as a violation of Article 27 section 9 and 10 of the Presidential Cup Rules and Regulations.

The match wiLl be replayed on 16th May, 2016 at the Nankhaka Stadium.

Meanwhile, the committee has asked the National Referees Association (NRA) to take an immediate disciplinary action against referee Williams.
