1. Lean Season Response Update
• DoDMA is finalizing the February maize distributions, beginning the final month of distributions in early March.
• Cash transfers are ongoing; World Bank cash transfers started this week.
• Ongoing challenges with electricity issues affecting distributions
2. Cholera Response Update
• CERF Funding: The Emergency Relief Coordinator has made an initial funding decision and agreed to review a CERF rapid response application to respond to the Cholera outbreak in Malawi of up to $4.3 million to assist about 750,720 affected people. Logistics Cluster is submitting a project proposal for 300,000 USD to provide free to user common logistics services (transport, storage, MSU).
o Free-to-user services will be provided in the CERF priority districts including: Blantyre, Balaka, Mangochi, Salima, Lilongwe, Machinga
• Cholera Pipeline Coordination: UNDP is managing the supply pipeline, please email to report (Joseph Mtenje joseph.mtenje@undp.org)
• Cholera Supply Dashboard is underway!
• Improved tent request process is ongoing with MoH; please report your deployed tents and warehouse stock to the tracking database. Here is the link to the database!
3. Access Updates
• Join the Logistics Cluster Whatsapp group for information on road access.
• WFP VAM team is working to receive regular updates on key road junctions – this information will be shared to the Whatsapp group participants!
3. AOB
• DoDMA presented an Emergency Response Update on households affected by flooding and rain events (670 households in Nsanje impacted). More details included in attached presentation.
