Masauko Chipembere street lights commissioned

TheRoad Fund Administration and Blantyre City Council (BCC) Monday commissioned the Masauko Chipembere High Way Street Light Rehabilitation Project that was taking place in Blantyre City.

Commenting on the project, BCC Public Relations Manager (PRM), Anthony Kasunda said the street lighting project was pegged at K450 million and the commissioning was one way of sending a message to residents that they have to take care of the facilities.

“Approximately 90 percent of the project was funded by Road Fund Administration and Blantyre City Council funded 10 percent. A lot of resources were invested in this project so it’s our hope that every resident of Blantyre will take full responsibility of the road facilities,” he said.

Presiding over the commissioning of the street lights, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa stated that the government is always happy to see Malawi developing and will continue initiating more development projects across the country.
