MBC flies Davina Furnitures owner to China

In continuation of its “inspiring the nation” quest, Malawi Broadcasting Corporation has flown to China, founder and proprietor of Davina Furnitures, Davis Kasenza, on a skill enhancement tour.

Kasenza earned the month-long trip after emerging arwadee of small scale enterprise category in last year’s MBC’s Innovations Awards.

“This is a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a dream come true for me,” said the Kasenza in an interview before his departure at Kamuzu Ineternational Airport in Lilongwe.

He explained that the trip would provide him a chance to expose his talent on an international platform while learning from fellow furniture makers in China.

In an interview, the state broadcaster’s spokesperson, Thembi Malinki, told Malawi News Agency that the awardees’ international trips are also supplementary to President Mutharika’s buy Malawi campaign as they sell Malawian skill and expose local products on the international market.

Kasenza, also a former lecturer of Lilongwe Technical College, has since challenged youths in country to always stay focused and never give on their dream citing his respective achievement as an example.

Each one of the ten last year’s awardees will fly to China and Egypt under the sponsorship of the respective embassies to Malawi and the Lilongwe based furniture maker is third in line.
