The Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare in conjunction with the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) – Malawi Chapter will on Wednesday conduct a big walk against Gender Based Violence (GBV).
According to a statement from MISA- Malawi released on Tuesday the big walk that will take place in Lilongwe is part of the activities to mark 16 Days of Activism against GBV.
The big walk is expected to start at 8:30 hours from Capital Hotel Round About in City Centre to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) via the Parliament Building Round About, Bisnowarty Total Filling Station and KCH Roundabout.
We are scheduled to donate assorted items to GBV victims at KCH at the end of the big walk the Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare, Honorable Jean Kalilani, will receive the group and take part in the donation, reads the statement in part.
The big walk is part of the activities MISA Malawi and the Ministry with support from the UN Family and European Union have implemented to raise awareness and cast the spotlight on the ills of gender based violence and the achievements that the government and other stakeholders have registered in fighting the malpractice.
