BLANTYRE: Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) Lisiti Langa promotion continues to register successes as second draw of the promotion has shown that over 28,000 people entered the competition contrary to 6,800 that participated in the first draw.
MRA’s Manager for Marketing Communications, Wilma Chalulu said this is a testimony that many people are now recognizing the importance of demanding Electronic Fiscal Device (EFD) generated receipt when buying goods in different shops.
Chalulu observed that the increase in weekly entries has encouraged the tax collecting body to come up with other innovations that could enable the company collect more revenue than before.
There is no limit to the number of EFD receipts that one can enter. More receipts, more entries and more prizes, Chalulu said
He, therefore, MRA is urging members of the general public to demand EFD receipts when purchasing taxable items from Value Added Tax (VAT) registered businesses.
The prizes in the promotion are numerous and they are meant to be won. So, demand your EFD receipt and be among many Malawians with the opportunity in the competition which is running now up to July 27 this year, he said.
Blessings Mwamadi, who won a cell phone during the inaugural draw, thanked MRA for the competition, saying it would not only motivate people to demand the receipts but also ensure that they are paying tax towards the development of the country.
Mwamadi said a good citizen needs to demand an electronic receipt every time when buying goods in shops because doing so would make MRA realize set targets for revenue collection.
Entry into the EFD Lisiti Langa Raffle Draw is by dialing *915*5# on Airtel or TNM numbers. An individual only needs to submit the serial and receipt numbers of an EFD receipt. The rule of the thumb is that a receipt can only enter once.
At least 105 people have emerged winners of different prizes in the second draw of ‘Lisiti Langa’ promotion. Prizes include cash, bicycles, cell phones, blankets, T/shirts and airtime, among other prizes.
