Musicians Union of Malawi to hold fundraising show

Lilongwe: Musicians Union of Malawi (MUM) has organised a fundraising show which is intended to raise money to reward outstanding music artists in the country.

Speaking in an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA) on Thursday, one of the organisers, Abel Sanena, said they decided to come up with the show so that they can raise money to reward those music artists that are doing well.

We thought that we should come up with a way that we can appreciate the work which our artists are doing, thereby awarding them with something.

It has been a long time since we had these awards, if I can recall very well, it was only Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) that used recognize our artists through Entertainers of the Year, Sanena said.

He further said the show will be held in all three regions starting with the Central Region at Lilongwe Community centre ground.

The show will be held Saturday, September 1 at Lilongwe Community Centre ground, then after that, we are taking the show to Blantyre then Mzuzu in weeks to come, Sanena said.

He added that the awarding ceremony will be conducted every year in December.

Some of the music artists who expected to perform at the events are Sangie, Macelba, Janta, Sir Patricks, Malinga Mafia, Atoht Manje just to mention a few.
