In a quest to educate the Malawi masses on disabilities, Flood Lilongwe, a non-governmental organization is hosting a movie night on Sunday September 11 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm at crossroads hotel inside Bamboo Room.
According to one of the organisers Humphreys Mkandawire, the movie night will help to raise awareness of people with all kinds of disabilities.
“We will view a movie that features disabilities to raise awareness about disability so that we can serve all people with dignity because Jesus love is the same for all of us,” Humphreys Mkandawire revealed in a press statement.
“Malawi has recently been making headlines in the international media for its brutal killings and abductions of people with albinism, however it is not only people with albinism that are facing discrimination in Malawi among other kinds of disabilities are autism, downs syndrome, cerebral palsy and intellectual disability which are facing various challenges,” Mkandawire said in the statement.
The statement further revealed that some of the activities to take place at the movie night will generate funds to be donated towards the building of a disability resource cabinet.
