BLANTYRE: Upcoming and unique gospel musician who has stormed the countries airwaves and weddings, with the popular, Nigerian-Malawian like gospel song, No Reverse, has promised his fans that he will soon release his long awaited debut album titled Kalondolondo.
Speaking in an interview with the Malawi News Agency on Wednesday, Shammah Stola, 24, who is popularly known in the music industry as Shammah Vocals, came in the lime light in 2015 with his debut song, Ayesu Amakukhala which since then has been frequently played on the country’s radio stations.
He said: Ayesu Amakukhala is a single I released in 2015, and it later turned to be the album carrying the same title ‘Ayesu Amakukhala’. Since then I have been working on singles like, No Reverse and Kalondolondo which is the title of the album I am yet to release.
The main challenge has been resources. It has been difficult for me to raise funds to support and promote my music since my parents passed on and there is nobody supporting me.
According to Shammah, the struggle to release an album and shoot a video of all his songs has been on till now hence his promise to his fans that soon they will start having access to his music in form of CDs and DVDs for he is working on the final touches to release his much awaited album.
Another element which has been delaying me to release an album despite having other songs in full board is that I have been working on the quality. Quality matters a lot. I want to bring new face of music to Malawi, like blending Nigerian type of gospel with Malawian type of gospel. Just like I did in No Reverse to fit in what people like during that particular time without living out an element of Malawian tradition in it, said an ever smiling Shammah.
He added that his Kalondolondo album which he is yet to release at yet to be announced date, will be a combination of highly blended unique, good and international standard songs which will not only entertain the fans but also make them feel and live the gospel.
According to Stola, the album yet to be released comprises about 11 songs and is as good as the previous album, ‘Yesu Amakukhala’.
