Blantyre, SPARC Systems Limited has made a donation of K1.5 million to Lawn Tennis Association of Malawi (LTAM).
SPARC made the donation Friday in Blantyre ahead of Lawn Tennis Junior Tournament qualifiers to be played on Saturday in Blantyre, Zomba, Mzuzu and Lilongwe cities.
Speaking in an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana) after making the donation, SPARC Managing Director, Wisely Phiri said junior tennis has the potential to put Malawi on the world Map if given the necessary attention.
Junior Tennis has the potential to put Malawi on the World map, this is the reason SPARC as a Malawian company decided to support the Junior Tennis Tournament, he suggested.
LTAM General Secretary, Stain Kaunda thanked SPARC for the donation and appealed to other companies to emulate SPARC’s example.
This is historic and we are very grateful to SPARC for the donation. The money will enable us to hold this year’s national Junior Tennis Tournament, he pointed out.
In a related development, LTAM Technical Director, Thomson Mtengula said all is set for the regional Junior Tennis qualifiers.
