Sunbird Hotel award best employees

Lilongwe: Malawi Sunbird Hotel Management in Lilongwe Saturday took time to appreciate its best employees by giving them and supervisors awards for the year 2017.

The Sunbird Hotel Management also recognized other employees who have served ten to thirty years with long term service awards.

The employees came from Sunbird Lilongwe, Sunbird Capital, Sunbird Mzuzu and Sunbird Livingstonia Hotel in Salima.

Speaking at the function, the guest of Honour who is also one of the board directors for Sunbird Hotels, Mactimes Malowa, said honouring the workers was a demonstration of the hotel’s commitment to recognize and appreciate the contribution by staff members towards the success of Sunbird Hotels in Malawi.

Members of staff play a very critical role in making Sunbird Hotels achieve its objectives. I assure you that within the limited resources, the board will always recognize and continue having this kind of programs, said Malowa.

He further urged the hotel staff to be exemplary, professional and to continue demonstrating ethical behaviour in line with the company’s integrity charter which exhibits their core values at all times.

Also addressing the employees, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Sunbird Hotels and Resorts, Yusuf Olera, congratulated the awarded employees and encouraged them to be ambassadors of the young stars.

Olera added that they should share the secrets that made them successful and how they managed to be with Sunbird Hotels for ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty five and up to thirty years.

I urge you all members of staff to continue the good work that you are doing to keep the good shape of Sunbird Hotels here in Malawi, said Olera.

Receiving the award as employee of the year 2017, Chimwemwe Banda from Sunbird Lilongwe said he was very happy to be one of the awardees.

Banda said hard work and passion is the powerful key to success. Hospitality mainly concerns customer care, so if you lack customer care services, you cannot deliver quality service, he said.

Banda added that the most important thing is to always have a positive attitude towards your work.

He then thanked Sunbird Hotel management and all staff for the memorable event that was organized for the employees.

The program started 11 years ago.
