Makokola Police Unit in Mangochi has arrested three men for being found in possession of human tissues, Malawi News Agency has learnt.
According to Mangochi Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Rodrick Maida the three suspects were
arrested on July 10,2016 at around 9 Oclock in the evening at Kera Village in the area of T/A Mponda.
“Police at Makokola, following a tip from the general public, found the suspects selling two arms of a two days old child at a price of K300, 000.00,” Maida said.
Maida added that upon further interrogation the trio revealed to have exhumed a grave at Sikidzi Village in the area of Traditional Authority Nankumba in the district.
He identified the three as Mike Peter, 26, from Sikidzi Village, Witness Mmadi, 20, of Duya Village both in the area of T/A Nankumba and Henderson Chiwaya, 24, who hails from Yule Village in the area of T/A Ganya in Ntcheu.
The police publicist said the three will soon appear before the court to answer to a charge of being found in possession of human tissues without a licence which is contrary to Section 16 of the Anatomy Act.
