Blantyre, Wilson Shasha Masamba will on June 26, 2017 take on South African based pugilist Kaizer Mabuza in a 12 round African Boxing Union (ABU) title bout to be held in Maputo, Mozambique.
Speaking in an interview with the Malawi News Agency (MANA) on wednesday, Masamba confirmed the development saying he is ready for the fight and wants the Malawi nation to support him all the way.
This fight is a title bout and if I do well it is the whole nation that will be put on the world map and I have plans of going outside to camp in Zimbabwe in readiness for the fight, he said.
Commenting on the bout, Gladwell Yohane of Glasis Building and Civil Engineering Contractors who are sponsoring Masamba, said they are ready to support the boxer as this is an important fight.
We will support him because we want the boxer to do well in his fight. This bout can lead him to contest in world boxing council fights, he said.
Masamba has won 28 bouts and lost 11 while his opponent Kaizer Mabuza has won 16 bouts, lost 15 bouts and has 3 draws.
Moreover, Mabuza has fought in international fights of; African Super Lightweight, African Welterweight and Baltic Welterweight under World Boxing Council.
