Addis Ababa: Former Portuguese national team and Manchester United star Luis Nani and Nigerian former football player Nwankwo Kanu have arrived in Addis Ababa today.
The two famous football players came to Ethiopia to participate in the 80th anniversary of the establishment of Mechal Sports Club, as guests of honor.
Upon their arrival at Bole International Airport, the players were warmly welcomed by the State Minister of Tourism Sileshi Girma, Chairman of Mechal Sports Club Board, Seife Getahun and Director of Defense Media Operations, Brigadier General Kuma Mideksa.
Founded in 1936, Mechal Sport Club has been actively involved in various sports fields, thereby helping to make the country known as a global sports arena.
Apart from boosting the morale of the army at the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF), the club also carried out many activities for the wellbeing of the country, it was learned.
Mechal Sport Club has also brought about many famous players who were selected for the Ethiopian national
team and played in various international matches.
