Addis Ababa: The Ethio-Belgium Business Forum has given us the opportunity to explore Ethiopia’s extensive investment prospects, Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for Belgium, Luxembourg, Africa, Caribbean, and Pacific Commercial Director Thomas De Beule said. The commercial director, who is among the 14-member Belgian delegation, is on a business tour in Ethiopia.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, De Beule stated in an exclusive interview that the forum marked a significant milestone in the relationship between Ethiopia, Belgium, and Luxembourg. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the event aims to foster a stronger relationship between these three economies, specifically targeting companies in agriculture and IT sectors.
“We have namely two Ecoplast companies that focus on recycling and sustainable solutions for plastics. They make school materials from plastic waste, and they are looking to set up a manufacturing hub here in the future,” De Beule highlighted. The forum also
provided a platform for Ethiopian and Belgian businessmen operating in numerous investment sectors to showcase their products and services.
The MoU signed between the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations and the Belgian Chamber of Commerce outlines areas for future collaboration. De Beule mentioned that the forum has enabled them to witness Ethiopia’s rapid economic growth and its wide array of investment opportunities, facilitating greater familiarity and experience sharing with Ethiopian businesspeople.
According to him, the agreement will enhance and promote trade and investment opportunities between the countries. Belgian investors have expressed interest in agriculture, renewable energy, information technology, and health sectors, among others.
