Government Asked To Support Anti-Drug And Alcohol Crusaders

Youth leaders from Mwea and Makima Wards in Embu County have called on the Government to partner with organizations that are in the forefront in the fight against drugs, and alcohol abuse.

They said a lot of sensitization campaigns on dangers of drug and alcohol abuse need to be carried out, especially among the youth who are increasingly getting hooked to the vices.

Mwema Youth Alliance Patron Nicholas Kasanga said this will only be successful if the Government and leaders across the country agree to work with established anti-drug and alcohol abuse crusaders.

He was speaking during a youth sensitization cum empowerment meeting at Kitololoni Catholic Parish in Makima Ward held in partnership with NACADA, alongside other institutions such as education and banking that also sought to help them set career goals

He said such organizations as theirs need a helping hand in terms of resources in order to run successful programs aimed at sensitizing fellow youth on the need to keep off drugs as well as rescue th
ose already addicted.

‘We can only do much in this pursuit without outside support to keep our youth out of harm’s way,’ he said.

The youth called for goodwill from both national and County Government in this war as they commended the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for the war he had initiated against illicit brews.
