ONDANGWA: Residents of Ondangwa on Friday held a cleaning campaign as part of reclaiming the title of being the cleanest town in the north of the country.
This year’s cleaning campaign was executed by school learners, members of the Namibian Police Force in training, Namibian Defence Force and community members.
Speaking during the clean-up exercise, Ondangwa Town Council chairperson of the management committee, Julia Kapia said the main purpose of this campaign is to sensitise their communities on sustainable benefits of taking care of the environment.
Kapia indicated that they were well on track in achieving this mission.
“We have already held various successful clean-up campaigns in the past years, and during these campaigns, we have been calling on everyone to live responsibly, plant more trees and protect our environment,” she said.
The human race depends on the environment and its natural resources for their very own survival, she added.
According to Kapia, each year they are receiving new partners and new organisations that want to join this noble undertaking of keeping Ondangwa clean.
Kapia noted that this is a sign that they are united as residents and aim to be part of change.
