Otjituuo murder suspect arrested in Ohangwena Region

A 24-year-old man suspected of stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death at Otjituuo in the Otjozondjupa Region, was apprehended at Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region Thursday morning.

The Namibian Police Force’s head of community affairs in Otjozondjupa, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, in an interview with Nampa said the suspect is expected to make a brief court appearance at Eenhana on Friday before being transferred to the Otjituuo police holding cells.

Family members of the deceased identified her as 24-year-old Julianne Hendricks.

Hendricks died on the spot after being stabbed three times with a knife around 02h30 on Monday.

“She was stabbed twice in the chest and once in the stomach and that killed her instantly,” said Mbeha.

The stabbing occurred at Ondjamo village in the Otjituuo area. Hendricks was walking back home from her current boyfriend’s house when the suspect, her ex-boyfriend, allegedly stabbed her and fled the scene.

Police investigations in the matter continue.
