Adwa Victory Memorial Museum Belongs to All Africans, Says FM Taye

Foreign Affairs Minister Taye Atske Selassie declared that Adwa victory is a shared heritage for all Africans.

Speaking at the special visit and dinner party organized for foreign ministers and dignitaries at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum, the foreign minister noted that the Victory of Adwa belongs to all Africans, emphasizing its significance in fostering Pan-African unity and understanding.

The museum is built to commemorate Ethiopia’s historic victory against the invading Italian army at the Battle of Adwa in 1896.

FM Taye said on the occasion that ‘the victory of Adwa symbolizes African resilience and strengths, and played a pivotal role in developing Pan-Africanism.’

According to him, the Adwa victory was a historic triumph. And ‘it is truly remarkable how this victory continues to inspire and unite African people all over the world. Thus, this museum belongs to all Africans. It belongs to all of us.’

Commemorating the victory is critical to understand the past, remake the present, and shape the
future of Africa, the minister stated.

‘The victory of Adwa is indeed a magnificent revival of the spirit of unity and an embodiment of patriotic leaderships,’ he added.

The foreign minister also took the opportunity to invite Africans to visit the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum in Addis Ababa.

‘I would like to invite the rest of your delegation and the African youth to visit this museum and share their history.’

The Adwa Victory Memorial Museum aims to inspire future generations towards unity and collective progress.
