Addis Ababa: Foreign technology companies have witnessed the immense potential of Ethiopia for digital transformation and expressed interest in investing in the sector. Cloud computing and big data services provider, Inspur Group, has played a significant role in Ethiopia for many years, offering various digital solutions.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Inspur Group’s Regional Marketing Director, Luis Liu, highlighted the company’s contributions, such as providing Ethio telecom with a SIM card management system, collaborating with the Ministry of Education on a student information management system, and delivering data center solutions for AU buildings. Liu noted the rapid growth of Ethiopia’s technology market and the government’s increased focus on the sector, viewing this as an opportunity to expand business while supporting the country’s technological development and offering training and job opportunities.
NUCTECH Company Country Manager, Sophie Zhao, emphasized Ethiopia’s digital transformation and achievements, expressing confidence in the country’s potential to become a leader in the digital world. She noted Ethiopia’s impressive technological advancements and her company’s readiness to support further digitalization with smart solutions for various sectors, including airports and logistics. Zhao also revealed plans to establish a transit center in Ethiopia to distribute spare parts and equipment to neighboring countries.
Mitsumi Distribution Country Manager, Alpesh Patel, acknowledged Ethiopia’s potential for digital transformation, driven by its large population and land size. He noted the high demand for technology from government offices, banks, and students, indicating plans for future investment in the country. Patel expressed intentions to expand their business into Ethiopia, akin to their operations in Kenya.
