Sustainable Backpack Initiative for Deaf Students in Malawi

Blantyre: Tikonze Apapa, an NGO based in Malawi, is taking a unique approach to supporting the deaf community by creating sustainable backpacks. The organization, which advocates for the rights and needs of the deaf, recently participated in a cleanup initiative at the Mudi River.According to Deutsche Welle, Tikonze Apapa collected discarded fabrics during the river cleanup and repurposed them into backpacks specifically for deaf students. This initiative not only addresses environmental concerns by recycling waste but also provides practical support to the educational needs of the deaf community in Malawi.
